SATURDAYS:
Informal Quiet Evening Service at 5:00 p.m. Worship on Saturday evening
at 5 p.m. is a traditional Lutheran service, with full communion, but it is conducted
in a more informal style. The singing is led from the piano and a small,Saturday
choir provides hymns and anthems which support the congregational song. Come,
dressed as you are, to participate in a slightly-"laid-back" Lutheran liturgy.
SUNDAYS: Traditional
Lutheran Liturgy at 8:00 and 11:00a.m. This service follows the structure
of the more formal traditional Lutheran liturgy. The congregation sings traditional
hymns and is supported by organ or piano and the senior choir. Holy Communion
is celebrated every week. Cross Walk on the 2nd & 5th Sundays at
11:00 a.m. This hour of contemporary worship is more informal than our
traditional service. The Rite of Healing from Evangelical Lutheran Worship will
be offered at this service, with laying-on of hands and anointing for all wishing
to receive prayers for healing in body, mind or spirit. Childcare
Professional childcare provider, Dawn Markovic, is available at all Sunday
Services for infants through 4 years. Our Cribbery now has a wireless paging system.
Each parent who entrusts a child to our Cribbery staff on Sunday morning will
be given a pager. If a situation should arise that requires the parents’ attention,
such as illness or injury, the Cribbery Director can silently page them, whether
they are in the sanctuary or Celebration Hall. A clear guideline for what constitutes
a “page-able” incident is available in the Cribbery. Weekly Lectionary:

"Burning
within and without ... for Moses"
On March 19, 20, 21, the Good Shepherd Players will be
presenting a musical drama, "Moses...and the burning
within" by David Kaufman and William Gokelman. The
cast is rehearsing on Sunday and Tuesday evenings (when
it doesn't snow) for two hours each. There is a committee
of sewing ladies who are working on costumes and props
- they're trying to figure out how to part the Red Sea
too! There is also a group working on publicity and ticket
sales. We have some wonderful musicians volunteering their
time. Overall, everything is up and running full-tilt
towards a dynamic and one-of-a-kind production! In case
you hadn't guessed, I'm pretty much "pumped"
with enthusiasm for this production. The music is powerful,
the story is amazing, and the cast is talented and hard-working.
I'm also delighted to report that 100% of the ticket sales
will be donated to Lutheran World Relief for relief in
Haiti, thanks to a generous gift to the Good Shepherd
Players to cover the cost of scores, CD's and production
rights. When music ministry teams up with service ministry,
I think that there is a powerful tool for change and improvement
in the lives of people who need help. Big-time performers
lend thier talents to global causes - think Sony Bono
and "Live Aide" - isn't it nice that right here
in Harford County, the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd
can take this rather significant and dramatic step to
testify to our identity as a committed and caring community
of faith?
So, fellow Lutherans, I urge you to cicle the third weekend
of March on your calendars, invite your friends and neighbors,
buy a ticket acn come on down to hear "Moses ...
and the burning within." You won't be disappointed.
Perhaps, you'll even catch the flame.
