SERVANTHOOD - We put our LOVE IN ACTION

PARTNERS IN SERVICE AND CARE FOR OUR NEIGHBORS:

The Sharing Table
is a coalition of churches that work together to serve a free meal every Saturday, starting at 11:30 a.m., for anyone in need. It is located at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 2600 Willoughby Beach Road in Edgewood.

Every family that comes receives a free bag of groceries to take home. Transportation is also available in the Edgewood area, if needed (call 410-676-6496 for transportation). The Sharing Table respects the dignity of each person. The goal is to reach out to those in need, and by serving a free meal and offering a friendly face, provide a brief haven from the daily stressors faced by families who have little.

LCGS Turn to Serve Meals at the Sharing Table

The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd will serve a hot lunch at the Sharing Table Saturday, September 18. Help is needed to provide ground beef barbecue, potato chips and hamburger rolls; to wait tables; to serve the meal; and to work in the kitchen. Credit for service hours is available. It's a great way to serve our Lord! Please contact Sallie Gartside if you'd like to sign up to help.

ON GOING PROJECTS
The Gift of Sight - If you have replaced your eyeglasses, why not donate the previous pair to the Lions Club? A collection box is in the coat room. All types of eyeglasses including reading glasses, bifocals, and sunglasses (prescription and non-prescription) are needed. Eyeglasses are cleaned, categorized by prescription, and prepared for distribution by Lions Club volunteers.

HAVE AN OLD CELL PHONE? - Used cell phones are re- programmed for emergencies and distributed to SARC (Spousal Abuse Resource Center). A collection box is located in the coat room.

PROJECT LINUS - Knitted, crocheted, sewn blankets are given to young children in need. Project Linus provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."

ANNA'S HOUSE - Toiletries and kitchen/bath items are collected and distributed to clients. Anna's House is a short term housing for women and children. The women attend classes, search for a job, get training, and other help to be able to stand on their own again.

SHARING TABLE - the second Sunday of every month food is collected for the clients of the Sharing Table and once a quarter we cook and serve the meal. LCGS is one of the many churches that make up this coalition.

FCCAU - On the first Wednesday of the month Betty Ann and friends from the Daytimers fellowship group provide and serve a hot meal at the Welcome One Fellowship Center in Edgewood. This center is a day facility for those in need. The clients include the homeless, senior citizens, low income-individuals and families, and others who lack food, fellowship, and services.

Save Campbell’s product labels for NAVAJO LUTHERAN MISSION SCHOOL - We collect Campbell’s product UPC codes to help the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission School on the Rock Point Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. The school can earn free educational materials such as computers, audiovisual aids, sports equipment, reference books, musical instruments, and even a mini van. The school has already earned six mini vans to transport children to school and people to church! Campbell's no longer accepts front face labels from products but will still take UPC codes with the logo of the Campbell’s Soup Kid next to them.

If you would like to help your neighbor in need by participating in any of these ministries talk to Kim Wagner, Servanthood team leader, or team members: Karen Nordman, Betty Ann Smith, Karen Hilton, Sandy & Dick Depkin or email the church office for more information.
