CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
for Adults

A New Members Class is offered in the fall and spring on five Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Please call the church office to register - 410-838-8081.

This class introduces people who would like to join our congregation or to learn more about us to the many programs and activities specific to The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. The class also discusses Lutheranism. After completing this six-week class, new members are received into the congregation and welcomed with a reception following worship.

YOUNG ADULTS THIS IS
FOR YOU!

Imagine Yourself...Being Who God Created You to Be! Lutherans believe that we are all living out our callings or our "vocations" in the ways we help our neighbors and share the love of Christ with them. You don't have to be a pastor to have a vocation!

Imagine Yourself is an invitation for young adults to explore their vocation. Join the Imagine Yourself Social Network! Connect with other young adults exploring the question: "What is God calling me to do with my life?" Join in the conversation, make new friends, and get involved. Click on the Imagine Yourself logo above and check it out!
Sunday Church School begins on Rally Day the first Sunday after Labor Day in September and continues through the second Sunday in June for children ages 2 through adult. The Sunday School Hour begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m.

SUNDAY OPPORTUNITIES at 9:30 a.m.:
  • BYOB (Bring Your Own Bible) Study
This weekly class usually examines the day’s Bible lessons on the second floor of the education building in room 209.

BIBLE STUDY SMALL GROUPS:
Monday Evening Women's Bible Study Group 1 & 2
On Monday, October 19, 2009, our Evening Women’s Small Groups will begin two new studies. One group will study the Gospel of Mark using Mark: Parables of Jesus from the Nelson Impact Bible Study Series. Another group will discuss the novel, The Shack by William P. Young.

Both Women’s Evening Bible Study groups meet the 1st & 3rd Mondays of the month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in rooms 206 & 208.

Pull up the empty chair we have waiting for you.

Evening Men's Group (Men's Christian Fellowship)
All of our regularly attending men look forward to each meeting, which is always conducted in a totally relaxed, casual, non-threatening environment; there is absolutely no requirement for prior Bible study experience or knowledge. We also provide help and support to each other in a Christian format whenever needed, and have all become valued friends.

"I look forward to every meeting of the Men's Bible Study group. You couldn't find a more caring and supportive group of men interacting in a relaxed, spiritual setting," says member John Anthony. "When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, these men joined my journey and provided me the comfort and support that I needed. I will forever be grateful."

Current Study: Philip Yancey's book: The Jesus I Never Knew
Leaders: Dick Depkin & John Anthony

This group meets the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in Room 208.

Peacemaker Bible Study Groups
These studies combine short video presentations by Ken Sande of Peacemaker Ministries with discussion questions to guide participants through a process of restoring relationships. Learn how to overcome deadlocks resulting from flight or fight responses that often occur when there is conflict. Peacemaking can help us turn conflicts into opportunities to bear witness to God and serve others.

Current Study Groups: Tuesdays at 7pm, Thursdays at 7pm and Sundays at 9:15 am (beginning Feb 14)

For more information on any of these educational offerings please call the church office (410-838-8081) and talk to either of the pastors.
